HDAS Alleges Adulteration in Tirumala Laddu Prasadam

Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha Raises Alarm Over Alleged Adulteration in Tirumala Laddu Prasadam

The Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha (HDAS) has voiced profound concern regarding alleged adulteration in the sacred laddu prasadam prepared at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The organization stated that this issue has deeply wounded the sentiments of the Hindu community worldwide, emphasizing that it transcends mere food safety concerns.

Supreme Court-Appointed SIT Confirms Impurity

In a detailed statement issued by HDAS convenor Swami Paramatmananda Saraswati, it was revealed that the presence of impurities in the naivedyam (sacred offering) has been confirmed by a special investigation team (SIT) appointed by the Supreme Court. While the exact nature of the adulterant remains under discussion, Swami Paramatmananda highlighted that using adulterated ghee in the preparation of the offering constitutes a clear violation of scriptural prescriptions and Agama principles governing temple rituals.

Naivedyam as Divine Offering, Not Just Food

The statement underscored that in Hindu temple practices, naivedyam is treated as a sacred offering to the deity, and it should not be viewed simply as a case of food adulteration. This distinction elevates the matter to one of religious significance, where purity and adherence to traditional norms are paramount. The HDAS stressed that such lapses compromise the sanctity of worship and erode devotees' trust.

Demand for Government Accountability

Since temple administration falls under the control of the state government, Swami Paramatmananda asserted that the government in power during the period when the incident occurred must be held accountable for this serious lapse. He argued that managing temple affairs should be regarded as a religious responsibility rather than a routine administrative function. Officials involved in temple management must be well-versed in scriptural and Agama principles to ensure proper conduct.

Recommendations for Future Prevention

To prevent similar issues from arising in the future, the Sabha has recommended organizing comprehensive seminars on ritual standards, including the principles of Dravya Shuddhi (purity of substances). These initiatives aim to educate administrators and staff on the essential requirements for maintaining the integrity of temple offerings. The HDAS emphasized that this incident should serve as a crucial reminder to uphold accountability and strict adherence to religious traditions in all aspects of temple administration.

The call for action highlights a broader need for transparency and diligence in preserving the sanctity of Hindu religious practices, ensuring that devotees' faith remains unwavering.
