HeartWorks Charity Art Exhibition Makes Mumbai Debut
A new art exhibition opens its doors in South Mumbai this week. HeartWorks 2026, an art-driven charity initiative, makes its debut on January 16 and 17. The exhibition will take place at IF.BE in Ballard Estate.
Art for Social Change
HeartWorks brings together artists, patrons, and non-profits in a collective effort. The initiative aims to support important social causes through art. Founded by Falguni Sheth-Kapadia and Rachana Darda, the exhibition was co-created with Shilpa Bhagat.
The two-day event features an impressive collection. Visitors can view over 175 artworks created by more than 75 artists. The participating artists include well-known names like Kishen Khanna, Himmat Shah, and Ram Kumar. Thota Vaikuntham, Seema Kohli, and Ankon Mitra also contribute their work.
Supporting Women-Led Causes
Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit more than ten women-led NGOs. These organizations work across various important areas. Their focus includes children's welfare, senior care, and women's empowerment. Animal protection, rural development, and environmental conservation also receive support.
Curated by Satyajit Dave, the exhibition presents a unique model. HeartWorks positions itself as a "circle of giving." In this model, artists donate part of their work. Patrons contribute through acquisition. NGOs then translate the funds into real impact on the ground.
Interactive Art Experience
One highlight of the exhibition deserves special attention. New Dawn II makes its India debut at HeartWorks. This interactive art experience comes from Mumbai-based Howareyoufeeling.studio. Founders Doyel Joshi and Neil Ghose Balser created it in collaboration with Grammy-nominated musician Anoushka Shankar.
The immersive work adds a multisensory dimension to the exhibition. It encourages reflection and emotional engagement alongside traditional visual art. This innovative approach enhances the overall visitor experience.
Personal Inspiration Behind the Initiative
For founder Falguni Sheth-Kapadia, HeartWorks began as a deeply personal idea. She explains her motivation clearly. "For my 50th birthday, I wanted to find a powerful way of giving back," she said. "Seeing this first edition come alive has shown me how generous the world can be when we create with purpose."
Co-founder Rachana Darda shares this sentiment. She describes HeartWorks as more than just a fundraiser. "It's an offering, an invitation to be part of something bigger than ourselves," she emphasizes.
Shilpa Bhagat adds important perspective. She notes that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to empathy and tangible change. This commitment particularly benefits women-led organizations.
Practical Details
The exhibition runs for two days only. Visitors can attend on January 16 and 17. The venue opens from 12 pm to 7 pm each day. IF.BE at Ballard Estate serves as the host location.
Organizers describe this first edition as the launch of a long-term movement. They aim to blend creative freedom with purposeful philanthropy. The partnership with IRAM Art and IF.BE helps present this vision to the public.
HeartWorks represents a fresh approach to charity in the art world. It connects artistic expression with social impact in meaningful ways. The Mumbai debut marks an important beginning for this innovative initiative.
