Jamshedpur Dazzles in Celebration of Jamsetji Tata's 187th Birth Anniversary
The historic industrial city of Jamshedpur, now 119 years old, came alive with vibrant energy on Monday evening, marking the eve of Founder's Day. The city is poised to celebrate the 187th birth anniversary of its visionary founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata (1839-1904), with a series of grand festivities.
Grand Illumination Inaugurated at Jubilee Park
In a ceremonial event, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran inaugurated a magnificent illumination display at Jubilee Park, which serves as the centerpiece of a four-day lighting extravaganza. The park's expansive green lawns were magically transformed into a fairytale landscape through meticulously designed and installed lighting.
The captivating display featured:
- Aesthetic illuminations adorning mid-size trees and shrubs
- Delicate fairy lights enhancing plants throughout the park

Approximately forty different locations across Jamshedpur sprang to life as evening descended. The illumination extended beyond Jubilee Park to include:

- Iconic towers that define the city's skyline
- Social clubs and educational institutions
- Traffic islands and street medians throughout the urban landscape
Each location was carefully lit with designer lighting schemes that highlighted architectural features and created visual harmony across the city.
Floral Tribute to Ratan Tata Becomes Centerpiece
A particularly remarkable attraction this year is an 18-foot by 22-foot portrait of Ratan Tata, the revered philanthropist and former chairman of Tata Sons. Created by local artist Vivek Mishra using over 10,000 fresh flowers, this vibrant installation has become a major talking point among visitors.
The portrait stands opposite the statue of JN Tata, creating a powerful visual dialogue between the founder and one of his most distinguished successors.

The illumination festivities extended to several other prominent parks across Jamshedpur:
- Sir Dorabji Tata Park, adjacent to Jubilee Park
- Postal Park in the Bistupur area
