For centuries, it has drawn thousands of devotees, with attendance peaking during the Brahmotsavams held every February. Collaborative Effort Drives Major Infrastructure Push
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy highlighted that this ambitious renovation project was a collaborative endeavor. Generous donor devotees joined forces with the state endowments department last year to provide the 800-year-old shrine with a substantial infrastructure upgrade. This partnership ensured that the temple's ancient glory could be preserved and enhanced for future generations.
Key Renovation Projects and Their Significance
The renovation encompasses several critical components, each designed to improve the devotee experience and restore the temple's original splendor.
- New Rajagopuram with Eastern Entrance: A majestic Rajagopuram with an eastern entrance has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Previously, devotees entered through the western Rajagopuram. The new structure, aligned with the principles of Agama and Vasthu Shastras, not only enhances the temple's aesthetic appeal but also adheres to traditional architectural guidelines.
- Revived Ancient Footpath: One of the ancient footpath routes leading to the shrine has been meticulously revived. A new step-staircase was laid at an expense of Rs 50 lakh, facilitating easier and more dignified access for pilgrims.
- New Mandapams for Devotee Shelter: Four new mandapams have been built with an investment of Rs 30 lakh. These structures provide essential shelter for visiting devotees, ensuring comfort during their spiritual journey.
- Restoration of Ancient Temple Tank: An ancient temple tank, originally built during the Chola era, had fallen into a dilapidated state. It has been successfully revived through a Rs 2 crore initiative by the VPR Foundation, established by Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy.
- New Compound Wall: The state endowments department constructed a new compound wall around the temple, spending approximately Rs 2 crore to enhance security and define the sacred precincts.
- Massive Kalyana Mandapam: The Bachu Charitable Trust contributed significantly by spending Rs 2 crore to build a massive Kalyana Mandapam. This facility can accommodate up to 6000 people, making it ideal for large gatherings and ceremonies.
