Lucknow's New 15-Acre Rose Garden Opens at Janeshwar Mishra Park

A magnificent new rose garden spanning 15 acres officially opened its gates to the public at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow on Saturday. Developed at a substantial cost of Rs 5 crore by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), this expansive horticultural attraction offers free entry to all visitors, making it an accessible recreational space for families, students, photographers, and nature enthusiasts alike.

A Horticultural Marvel with Unprecedented Diversity

The garden presents a breathtaking rainbow-themed layout, with colors ranging from deep crimson, scarlet, and burgundy to soft pinks, blush tones, whites, yellows, oranges, and purples, creating an immersive visual spectacle.

Scientific Design and Meticulous Planning

Inspired by the renowned Chandigarh Rose Garden, this Lucknow development houses a total of 10,509 rose plants arranged scientifically to ensure optimal sunlight exposure, efficient irrigation, and proper soil nutrition. The soil has been specially treated for enhanced fertility, while a centralized water sprinkler system utilizing double-filtered water maintains the roses in peak condition throughout the year.

Vivek Srivastava, LDA secretary who inaugurated the garden on Saturday, emphasized the comprehensive approach to the project. "We have also planted ornamental flowers such as dahlias, tulips, marigolds and other seasonal blooms along the borders to enhance colour and diversity," Srivastava explained. "The garden blends aesthetic beauty with biodiversity and leisure, offering a complete sensory experience."

Thoughtful Amenities and Visitor Experience

The garden's design incorporates numerous thoughtful elements to enhance visitor comfort and enjoyment. Gazebos positioned at entry and exit points provide sheltered resting areas, while shaded benches line the winding walkways that meander through the floral displays. Security fencing ensures protection for the valuable collection, and facade lighting transforms the garden into a luminous evening spectacle.

This blend of exotic and native species, combined with meticulous landscape design, creates more than just a visual attraction—it establishes a recreational space that engages all the senses. The garden represents a significant addition to Lucknow's public spaces, offering residents and visitors alike an opportunity to experience botanical diversity in a carefully curated environment.
