Preparations for the much-anticipated annual Patiala Heritage Festival are now officially underway. Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav on Friday initiated the planning process, chairing a key meeting to assign responsibilities to various nodal officers for the diverse array of events.
DC Yadav Outlines Vision for Tourism Boost
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav emphasized the Punjab government's clear objective: to position Patiala as a prominent tourism centre. She revealed that the state plans to organise a series of events throughout February under the festival's banner. Yadav instructed all departments and officers involved to execute their duties with full responsibility and diligence, urging for meticulous planning to ensure the festival's success.
"All residents of Patiala should definitely be a part of the Patiala Heritage Festival," Yadav stated, extending an open invitation to the public. She anticipates a large influx of visitors eager to experience the city's rich heritage, culture, and legacy firsthand.
Diverse Events from Military to Music
The festival promises a vibrant mix of activities catering to varied interests. Key events for which nodal officers have been assigned responsibilities include:
- The Military Literature Festival
- Aero modeling exhibitions and demonstrations
- Classical music performances
- Poetry sessions
- The Punjab Women's Empowerment and Craft Fair
Yadav highlighted that special efforts are being channeled through the tourism department to develop Patiala's infrastructure and appeal as a tourist destination. The overarching goal of the Punjab government is to firmly establish the city as a tourism hub for the region.
Festival Schedule and Public Participation
The Patiala Heritage Festival is scheduled to commence in the second week of February. The festivities will kick off with the Military Literature Festival and run through the end of the month, concluding with the Punjab Women's Empowerment and Craft Fair at the iconic Sheesh Mahal in late February.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated her call for public participation, encouraging everyone to come and enjoy the celebrations that showcase the best of Patiala's historical and cultural splendour.
