Patna's Mahavir Temple Launches Nine-Day Ram Navami Festival with Grand Ceremony
The nine-day Ram Navami Mahotsav officially began at the historic Mahavir temple, located near Patna Junction, on Thursday. The inauguration was marked by the sacred Navah Parayan of the Ramcharitmanas, a devotional recitation that sets the spiritual tone for the festivities.
Inaugural Rituals and Ceremonial Flag-Off
The opening rituals commenced with the traditional installation of a 'kalash' and worship of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman. Justice Sanjay Kumar served as the 'yajaman' or chief patron of these inaugural ceremonies, overseeing the proceedings with reverence.
A highlight of the event was the ceremonial flag-off of the Ram Rath from the temple premises. This procession was conducted in the presence of senior BJP leaders, temple officials, and a large gathering of devoted attendees, creating an atmosphere of collective celebration.
Distinguished Participants and Devotional Acts
Several prominent figures participated actively in the ceremonies. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi, organizing committee chairman Sardar Jagjeevan Singh Bablu, and Mahavir Mandir's Sayan Kunal, along with other key committee members, performed aarti of the chariot. They offered flowers and paid their obeisance, demonstrating deep respect for the occasion.
The rituals were conducted under the expert guidance of senior priest Jatesh Jha, ensuring all traditions were meticulously followed. A substantial crowd of devotees was present throughout, adding to the event's vibrancy.
Selection of Reciters and Recitation Schedule
Following the puja, Justice Kumar ceremonially selected the reciters for the Navah Parayan by offering them clothes and books. The 11-member group includes:
- Shivchandra Chaudhary
- Mohan Chaudhary
- Gopal Mishra
- Anil Singh
- Vipin Thakur
- Srodhan Chaudhary, who was chosen as the Vyas or chief reciter
This dedicated group has been performing the Navah recitation on this occasion for approximately 25 years, showcasing their long-standing commitment. The recitation will take place daily from 8 am to 2 pm, concluding on Ram Navami.
Community Participation and Upcoming Events
Local devotees are also encouraged to participate in the recitation as per their convenience. The Mahavir Mandir has arranged seating and other necessary facilities to accommodate all attendees comfortably.
Looking ahead, a Shobha Yatra featuring 51 elaborate tableaux is scheduled to be taken out on March 27. This procession promises to be a grand spectacle, further enriching the festival's cultural and spiritual dimensions.
