Ancient Tamil Scripture Recited in Continuous Sequence
The highlight of the event was the uninterrupted recitation of the ancient Tamil scripture Thiruvasagam, which comprises 658 hymns. The recitation session extended for over five hours, demonstrating the group's dedication and endurance. Following the lengthy chanting, the participants engaged in worship of Lord Shiva, offering prayers and seeking blessings at the temple, which is one of the most significant Shiva shrines in India. This event not only highlighted the cultural and religious ties between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi but also showcased the enduring legacy of Tamil devotional literature.
The gathering emphasized the universal appeal of Shiva worship across different linguistic and regional traditions, reinforcing Varanasi's status as a pivotal center for Hindu spirituality.
