TTD to Build 20-Acre Spiritual City Near Tirupati, Accommodating 25,000 Devotees
TTD's 20-Acre Spiritual City Plan for Tirupati

In a landmark decision aimed at transforming the pilgrimage experience, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board has approved the creation of a vast spiritual city spanning 20 acres near the sacred town of Tirupati. This ambitious project, announced following a crucial board meeting, is designed to significantly enhance facilities for the millions of devotees visiting the abode of Lord Venkateswara.

A New Spiritual Hub at the Gateway to Tirumala

The proposed spiritual city will be developed at Alipiri, renowned as the primary gateway to the hill shrine of Tirumala. To make space for this new complex, the TTD has decided to relocate its existing sculpture institute from Alipiri to the Devlok premises on Zoo Park Road. TTD Chairman BR Naidu revealed that the visionary project intends to provide accommodation for a staggering 25,000 devotees.

The city will not merely be a housing facility; it is conceived to immerse pilgrims in a divine atmosphere. Plans include several thematic add-ons dedicated to spiritual themes, all curated to create a profound and serene vibe for visitors before they embark on their journey to the holy temple.

Green Initiatives and Major Infrastructure Projects

Beyond the spiritual city, the TTD board passed a series of significant resolutions with far-reaching impacts. In an eco-friendly move, the trust will allocate 100 acres of land near Palamaner for the 'Temple Trees' initiative. This project focuses on the home cultivation of sacred tree species. The wood from these trees will be specifically used for crafting dwajasthambhams (flag posts) in temples, ensuring a sustainable and ritually pure supply.

In a major boost to healthcare, the board cleared financial hurdles for the Sri Padmavathi Paediatric Superspecialty Hospital near Tirupati by sanctioning an additional Rs 48 crore. This allocation comes on top of the Rs 230 crore previously sanctioned, ensuring the timely completion of this critical medical facility.

The board also gave its nod for the construction of a Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Bandra, Mumbai, with a sanction of Rs 14 crore. This decision underscores TTD's commitment to serving devotees across the country.

Focus on Education and Spiritual Ambiance

Recognizing the importance of modern education, the TTD approved recommendations to upgrade its 31 educational institutions. The plan involves the immediate introduction of digital classrooms and state-of-the-art infrastructure to enhance learning quality.

To support female students, it was resolved to increase hostel capacity at the Sri Padmavathi Women's Degree College in Tirupati from 2,100 to 2,370 seats by constructing new blocks. Furthermore, a free midday meals scheme will be launched at Sri Padmavathi Women's Junior College, SV Junior College, and other institutions in the area.

In a move to deepen the spiritual character of Tirumala, the board resolved to rename roads and important junctions in the hill town with names that have a spiritual connection. A dedicated committee has been formed to oversee this renaming process.

These comprehensive decisions, taken during the board's meeting, highlight TTD's multi-faceted approach to serving devotees, promoting sustainability, advancing healthcare and education, and preserving the sanctity of the sacred region.
