The occasion, known as Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, coincided with the start of Chaitra Navratri, infusing the city with profound religious fervor and traditional observances.
RSS Volunteers Pay Tribute to Founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar
Across approximately thirty locations in Varanasi, volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organized solemn tributes to honor their founder, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Dressed in full uniform, the swayamsevaks offered floral tributes and actively participated in traditional celebrations, underscoring the organization's deep-rooted cultural connections.
Cultural and Spiritual Significance Highlighted at Varsh Pratipada Utsav
At the Varsh Pratipada Utsav held in Shivala area's Ratnaker Park, organized by Ganga Nagar, Kashi Vibhag Sanghchalak Jayprakash Lal addressed a gathered audience. He elaborated on the cultural and spiritual importance of Bharatiya Nav Varsh, emphasizing that this day signifies not merely a calendar change but a profound transformation in nature itself.
According to ancient traditions, Lord Brahma initiated the creation of the universe on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. This date is also historically linked to the coronation of Yudhishthir and the inception of the Vikram Samvat calendar. Furthermore, Jayprakash Lal noted that Keshav Baliram Hedgewar was born on this very day in 1889 in Nagpur, adding a layer of historical reverence to the celebrations.
