The crisis within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) continues to escalate as two prominent leaders, Saayoni Ghosh and Mala Roy, arrived in Delhi on Saturday. Their visit comes ahead of a scheduled meeting between rebel party members and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Leadership Reshuffle Amid Turmoil
In a fresh round of organisational changes, the TMC leadership removed Ghosh, Roy, and another leader, Bandyopadhyay, from key party positions. This move is seen as an attempt to consolidate control amidst growing dissent within the party ranks.
Rebels Seek Speaker's Intervention
The rebel faction, which has been vocal about their grievances, is expected to press for a formal hearing with the Speaker. The meeting could potentially lead to further rifts within the party, as internal disagreements over leadership and policy direction come to the fore.
Political analysts suggest that the TMC's internal strife could impact its electoral prospects in upcoming by-elections. The party, which has dominated West Bengal politics for over a decade, faces its most significant challenge from within in recent years.
Meanwhile, the TMC leadership has downplayed the crisis, calling it a routine organisational exercise. However, the arrival of Ghosh and Roy in Delhi indicates that the matter has reached the national stage.
