LDF Convener Slams UDF Government Over Transfers, Health

Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convener T P Ramakrishnan on Sunday strongly criticised the UDF government, alleging that it has been pursuing politically motivated actions despite not even completing a month in office.

Allegations of Unfair Transfers

In a statement, Ramakrishnan accused the government of large-scale transfer of officials, disregarding established norms and acting on recommendations from pro-government organizations. He said such actions undermine democratic principles and administrative transparency.

Health Sector Concerns

On the spread of communicable diseases in Kerala, including Nipah virus infections, Ramakrishnan said the state had previously earned global recognition for its effective public health interventions. However, recent decisions by the health department had triggered widespread criticism and weakened the state’s disease-control efforts, he alleged.

He condemned the transfer and disciplinary action taken against the director of health services, claiming the move as arbitrary and politically motivated. He questioned the rationale behind the action and demanded greater transparency from the government.

Political Vendetta Alleged

Ramakrishnan accused the UDF administration of attempting to divert attention from pressing public issues through political vendettas. He said the LDF would support all genuine measures aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases and protecting public health.

Controversial Appointments

The LDF convener raised concerns over recent government appointments, including appointing K B Pradeep as special pleader for the devaswom department. He alleged that appointing a lawyer connected to an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case was part of a conspiracy to weaken the prosecution. Although the appointment was later withdrawn following public criticism, Ramakrishnan maintained that serious questions remain unanswered regarding access to sensitive case documents and possible information leaks. He demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and sought the government’s clarification on its stance.

Sangh Parivar Allegations

Ramakrishnan alleged attempts to place individuals with Sangh Parivar affiliations in key government positions. He accused Congress of maintaining a soft approach towards BJP and said Congress’s stance was detrimental to secular and democratic values. He urged Congress brass to explain its stance to the people of Kerala.
