Vedvyas Fair in Rourkela Commences on Auspicious Shivratri
The renowned Vedvyas fair, a 15-day cultural and religious event, officially began on Sunday at the historic Vedvyas temple in Rourkela. This grand inauguration coincided with the sacred occasion of Shivratri, drawing devotees and visitors to the banks of the Brahmani river. The fair, known for its vibrant atmosphere, has been meticulously organized to cater to a diverse crowd, with expectations of attracting lakhs of attendees over its duration.
Extensive Vendor Participation and Diverse Offerings
This year's fair boasts an impressive array of approximately 700 vending stalls, showcasing a wide variety of products and services. Visitors can explore items such as toys, cosmetics, fancy goods, footwear, household essentials, handicrafts, and an assortment of food items. The event has also attracted vendors from various regions across the country, enhancing its cultural richness and providing a platform for local and national artisans to display their wares. This diversity ensures that the fair offers something for everyone, from traditional crafts to modern conveniences.
Robust Security and Organizational Measures
To ensure a safe and orderly experience for all attendees, comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented. Gulab C Kaushik, the executive officer of the Vedvyas Trust Board, emphasized that all necessary preparations have been made to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors. He expressed optimism about the fair's success, highlighting the trust's commitment to providing a seamless experience. The security deployment includes:
- Three additional Superintendents of Police (SPs)
- Five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs)
- 13 inspectors
- 66 sub-inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs)
- 284 home guards
- 10 platoon police forces
This extensive police presence aims to maintain law and order, prevent any untoward incidents, and facilitate smooth crowd management throughout the event.
