CM Yogi Adityanath Shares Makar Sankranti Wishes, Stresses India's Rich Cultural Fabric

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt Makar Sankranti and Khichadi greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. He emphasized the festival's deep connection with India's ancient cultural traditions.

Festival Celebrated Across India with Diverse Names

The Chief Minister described Makar Sankranti as an important festival observed with reverence and enthusiasm throughout the country. He noted that different states celebrate it under various names and traditions.

In Tamil Nadu, people celebrate it as Pongal. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana know it as Sankranti. Assam calls it Magh Bihu. Punjab and Haryana observe Lohri. Gujarat celebrates Uttarayan. Maharashtra marks Til Sankranti. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have the tradition of the Khichdi festival.

This beautiful diversity powerfully expresses India's cultural unity and social harmony, according to the CM.

Astrological Significance and Symbolic Meaning

Yogi Adityanath explained the astrological aspect of Makar Sankranti. On this occasion, the Sun God moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn and begins its northward journey.

In Indian tradition, the Sun's northward movement symbolizes auspiciousness, positivity, and new consciousness. This transition delivers a powerful message of moving from darkness to light, from inertia to action, and from negativity to positive energy.

Magh Mela and Spiritual Observances

The Chief Minister spoke about the Magh Mela organized during Sankranti. Lakhs of devotees will take a holy dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam at the Mela in Prayagraj throughout the Magh month.

Beyond Prayagraj, bathing in holy rivers, performing charity, and engaging in worship hold special significance across various districts of Uttar Pradesh during this festival. These practices strengthen the spirit of social goodwill, service, and public welfare.

Call for Traditional Celebration and Social Responsibility

CM Yogi Adityanath made a special appeal to the people. He urged everyone to celebrate Makar Sankranti and the Khichdi festival with traditional reverence, mutual harmony, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

He encouraged citizens to become active partners in further strengthening the state's rich cultural traditions. The festival serves as a reminder of shared heritage and collective progress.
