From Humble Beginnings to Heartwarming Success: The Rohit Nandeshwar Story

Rohit Nandeshwar and his brother experienced a childhood defined by scarcity and struggle. Their family home was modest in size, with a leaking roof and crumbling walls that symbolized their financial constraints. Money was perpetually tight, creating an environment where every rupee counted. However, amidst these material limitations, the household was abundantly rich in affection and emotional support.

A Foundation Built on Love and Sacrifice

Reflecting on his upbringing, Rohit shares, "I grew up in a house where money was limited, but love never felt short." His father dedicated 35 years of his life to driving an autorickshaw, while his mother managed household responsibilities with remarkable frugality. Through careful saving, she accumulated enough funds to eventually help her husband purchase his own rickshaw, providing a slight improvement in their earnings. Despite this, challenges persisted relentlessly—school fees, their sister's wedding expenses, and recurring health issues kept the family in a constant state of financial anxiety.

Early Responsibilities and Multiple Hustles

Rather than waiting for adulthood, Rohit and his brother began contributing to the family income from a young age. In a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Rohit detailed his early work experiences: "I started selling SIM cards, worked at a cyber cafe by day, and distributed pamphlets at night." By 2015, he secured a position as an HR assistant with a monthly salary of Rs 4500, but this income proved insufficient. To supplement it, the brothers launched a small events business, learning valuable lessons in responsibility and resilience through each endeavor.

The Devastating Impact of COVID-19

Rohit's interest in the stock market began in 2018, initially showing promising results. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen devastation, causing him to lose nearly Rs 2 lakh within a single month. This financial blow was compounded by existing EMIs and debts, creating immense pressure. Throughout this turbulent period, his family remained his unwavering support system. His father's advice, "Imaandari se kaam kar; nasib har baar sath nahi deta," meaning "Work with honesty; luck doesn't always favor you," became a guiding principle that motivated him to persevere.

Recovery and a Grand Gesture of Gratitude

With focused determination, continuous learning, and relentless effort, Rohit managed to recover from his losses over three years, eventually achieving financial stability and growth. Once their situation improved, the brothers conceived a special surprise to honor their parents' sacrifices. They decided to purchase a luxury car for their father, who had spent decades behind the wheel of an autorickshaw.

In December 2025, they took him to a showroom without revealing their plan. Rohit recalls the emotional moment when they handed the car keys to his father: "Jab uss din Maa-Papa ne mujhe gale lagaya, laga bas zindagi me sab kuch mil gaya," translating to "When my parents hugged me that day, I felt like I had achieved everything in life." This profound experience inspired him to make a personal vow: "Yeh toh bas shuruaat hai," or "This is just the beginning."
