Himachal Pradesh Fast-Tracks Asia's Largest Zip-Line Project in Dharamshala
In a significant push to elevate adventure tourism in the scenic Kangra district, the Himachal Pradesh government has intensified efforts to launch what is being touted as Asia's largest zip-line project at Naddi, near Dharamshala. This ambitious initiative, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 7.50 crore, is now on track for completion by the second week of June, marking a major milestone in the region's tourism development.
Project Details and Environmental Commitment
Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania recently disclosed that a crucial meeting was convened on Wednesday to review and expedite all necessary formalities for the project. The zip line will span an impressive 5.3 kilometers, traversing the breathtaking valleys of the majestic Dhauladhar mountain range. "Once operational, it is poised to become Asia's largest zip line, offering tourists an unmatched fusion of adrenaline-pumping adventure and stunning natural vistas," Pathania emphasized.
Addressing environmental concerns, Pathania assured that the project has been designed with sustainability at its core. It will be eco-friendly and sustainable, with a firm commitment that no trees will be felled during its construction, ensuring minimal ecological impact while preserving the area's pristine beauty.
Economic and Tourism Impact
Beyond its adventure appeal, the zip-line project is expected to deliver substantial economic benefits to the region:
- Boost to Tourism: It aims to attract a surge of adventure enthusiasts, positioning Kangra as a premier destination for thrill-seekers.
- Employment Generation: The initiative is projected to create numerous local job opportunities, from construction to ongoing operations and tourism services.
- Economic Activity: Enhanced tourist footfall is likely to stimulate ancillary businesses, including hospitality, retail, and transportation.
Pathania highlighted that this project aligns with the broader vision of establishing Kangra as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh, leveraging its natural assets for sustainable growth.
Related Developments in Kangra District
In addition to the zip-line, Pathania provided updates on other key tourism initiatives in the district. Work on the Dal Lake in Kangra, which commenced nearly nine months ago, is progressing steadily, with plans to fill the lake with water by May. Furthermore, the Congress legislator unveiled plans to develop a religious circuit connecting Dal Lake, Naddi, and Bal. This circuit is designed to attract both spiritual pilgrims and tourists, enriching the region's cultural and religious tourism offerings.
These concerted efforts underscore the government's commitment to transforming Kangra into a multifaceted tourism hub, blending adventure, nature, and spirituality to cater to diverse visitor interests.
