Kaziranga Tourist Boom: Foreign Visitors Triple, Record 1.46 Lakh Tourists in 3 Months
Foreign Tourists in Kaziranga Triple, Set New Record

Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) is experiencing an unprecedented tourism boom, shattering records with a massive influx of visitors in the current season. The park has witnessed a staggering tripling of foreign tourist arrivals over the last two years, marking a new high in its appeal as a global wildlife destination.

Record-Breaking Numbers Define the Season

In a remarkable surge, over 1.46 lakh (1,46,157) visitors explored the iconic rhinoceros habitat in the first three months of the tourist season, up to December 27. This impressive figure includes 1.39 lakh (1,39,458) Indian tourists and a record 6,699 foreign tourists. Authorities confirm this is the highest number of international guests the park has ever welcomed in a tourism calendar, and it was achieved within just the first quarter of the season.

Government Vision and Global Recognition

KNPTR director Sonali Ghosh hailed this achievement as a direct result of strategic efforts to elevate the park's international profile. "The highest-ever influx of foreign tourists to Kaziranga is a resounding testament to the state government’s visionary efforts in elevating it to a global status," Ghosh stated. She emphasized that the tripling of foreign tourist numbers in two years indicates a powerful and positive trend for Assam's flagship conservation area.

Economic Ripple Effect and Positive Triggers

This tourist deluge has created significant economic benefits. The park's exchequer has been enriched, and local hoteliers are reporting a dramatic improvement in business. Pankaj Gogoi, Secretary of the Kaziranga Hotel and Resort Association, noted that many hotels are fully booked until mid-January, coinciding with the Magh Bihu celebrations.

Gogoi attributed the surge to multiple factors. "The flow of tourists in Kaziranga has gone up noticeably this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kaziranga last year definitely had a positive impact. Furthermore, a decrease in rhino poaching incidents has sent a strong, positive message about the park's safety and conservation success to the world," he explained. This combination of high-profile endorsement and improved conservation outcomes has successfully positioned Kaziranga on the world tourism map.

The phenomenal growth underscores Kaziranga's rising stature as a must-visit ecological treasure, driving both conservation pride and economic prosperity for the region.
