Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday stated that the state government is actively promoting religious tourism. He announced that the proposed Hatu Mata ropeway project has been taken up under NABARD funding.
Devotees Attracted by Rich Dev Culture
After offering prayers at the Hatu Mata temple near Narkanda, Sukhu highlighted that Himachal Pradesh's rich 'dev culture' attracts devotees from across the country. The government is working to improve access to major religious destinations.
Ropeway Project Timeline
Sukhu said the state government is actively pursuing the Hatu Mata ropeway project, which has been proposed under NABARD funding. He added that while the project may take three to four years to materialize, it remains a priority for the government.
Road Upgrades and Highway Development
The Chief Minister also mentioned that funds have been sanctioned to upgrade the road leading to the temple. Furthermore, the survey for the proposed four-laning of the Dhali-Narkanda-Rampur highway has been completed. Tunnel construction will be prioritized to reduce landslide-related disruptions and improve travel safety, said Sukhu.
Grant for Narkanda Nagar Panchayat
During his visit, Sukhu also announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh for the Narkanda nagar panchayat.
