A disruptive passenger faced removal from a United Airlines aircraft at Newark Liberty International Airport following a heated and profanity-laced confrontation with a flight attendant. The incident, stemming from significant flight delays, was recorded by another traveller and spread rapidly on social media platform TikTok on 10 November, as later reported by the New York Post.
Flight Delays Spark Heated Confrontation
The troubled journey was United Airlines flight bound for Charleston, South Carolina. Passengers endured a gruelling wait, first facing a three-hour delay before even boarding the aircraft. The ordeal continued after boarding, with the plane stuck on the tarmac for an additional hour and a half, testing the patience of everyone onboard.
It was during this extended tarmac delay that the situation escalated. Video evidence shows the agitated female passenger rising from her window seat and approaching a flight attendant in the aisle. As the crew member moved aside to let her pass, the passenger muttered abusive words, including severe profanity directed at the attendant as she walked away.
Viral Video Captures the Moment
The recording took a pivotal turn when the irate woman suddenly realised she was being filmed. She immediately fell silent and attempted to avert her gaze from the camera, but the damage was done. The clip quickly gained traction online.
Summarising the event on social media platform X, a user wrote, "Passenger kicked off United Airlines flight in Newark after cursing out a flight attendant." The post included a quote of the passenger's words from inside the cabin: "I'm getting up. I'm allowed to stand up. When you keep us on the tarmac for an hour, I'm allowed to stand up... Really not a problem for me to want to f--king stand. F--king c--ts."
Escalation and Removal from the Aircraft
According to the fellow traveller who recorded the event, the situation deteriorated further when other passengers tried to intervene and calm the woman down. This attempt at peacemaking reportedly had the opposite effect, causing her to "start spiraling."
During this escalation, the passenger's comments became even more extreme. She allegedly told other people to "kill themselves" and launched into a lengthy monologue detailing the difficulties of her personal life. This unacceptable behaviour left the crew with no choice.
Due to her actions, the crew decided to return the aircraft to the gate. Security was involved, and the disruptive passenger was ultimately escorted off the flight, ensuring the safety and comfort of the remaining travellers and crew before the journey could continue.
