Authorities in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district have implemented comprehensive security measures at two of the state's most frequented tourist destinations—the revered Goddess Chhinnamastika Temple in Rajrappa and the scenic Patratu Lake Resort—to ensure safe and smooth New Year celebrations. With a massive influx of visitors anticipated, the administration has focused on deploying additional police forces, installing CCTV cameras, and managing traffic to prevent any untoward incidents.
Enhanced Security Arrangements for Crowd Management
The Ramgarh district administration, led by Officiating Deputy Commissioner Ashish Agrawal, has declared that all popular tourist spots, including the Rajrappa temple and Patratu Lake, are now fully prepared for the New Year's Day rush. Additional security forces have been specifically deployed at both locations to manage the expected crowds. At Patratu Lake Resort, managed by the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC), authorities have installed CCTV cameras for constant surveillance.
Gaurav Goswami, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) for Patratu, confirmed the bolstered security measures. He stated that apart from the resort, police personnel have also been stationed in the Patratu valley area. This strategic deployment aims to ensure the free flow of vehicles on the crucial highway that connects the Patratu Lake Resort with the state capital, Ranchi.
Massive Footfall Expected at Rajrappa Temple
The Goddess Chhinnamastika Temple in Rajrappa, located approximately 70 kilometres from Ranchi, is the second most crowded temple in Jharkhand after Deoghar's Baijnath Dham. It traditionally draws huge numbers of devotees, tourists, and picnickers, especially on occasions like New Year's Day.
Chief Priest Ajay Panda has indicated that over 60,000 people are expected to visit the Rajrappa temple for New Year blessings. He noted that devotees are not only from Jharkhand but also from neighbouring states like West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. In light of this forecast, the temple committee had formally requested the deployment of extra police forces, a request which the administration has acted upon.
Administration's Proactive Stance for Safety
Ashish Agrawal emphasized that the administration has made superior arrangements across all key destinations in the district. Officials have been directed to maintain a strict vigil not just within the tourist spots but also on the highways and connecting roads to avert any mishaps. This holistic approach to security covers the entire journey experience of the revellers.
The focus on Patratu valley for traffic management is a critical part of this plan, as smooth vehicular movement is essential to prevent congestion and delays on the busy route to Ranchi. The combined efforts of the district administration, police, and tourism department underscore a committed attempt to welcome the New Year with both enthusiasm and order.
As the state prepares to ring in 2024, these preparations at Ramgarh's iconic sites reflect a broader initiative to promote safe tourism and provide a secure environment for thousands of celebrants seeking blessings and recreation.
