In a spectacular first for the city, Nashik is set to host a breathtaking air show featuring the Indian Air Force's renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The event, scheduled for January 22nd and 23rd, promises to paint the sky with precision and power.
Sky-High Spectacle: Dates and Venue
The aerial display will be held at the scenic Gangapur dam over two days. January 22 will feature a dress rehearsal, while the main, full-fledged show is set for January 23. The performances are timed from 10 am to noon. This initiative is a joint effort by the district planning office, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, tourism department, water resources department, public works department, and the Indian Air Force.
Logistics and Tourism Vision
District Collector Ayush Prasad confirmed the event, stating it has been a long-standing proposal as part of the Nashik festival. The administration has made elaborate arrangements to host 33,000 spectators each day at various vantage points. Ticket prices have been set in a range from Rs 300 to Rs 2,000.
The primary goal of this event is to explore and boost the tourism potential of the Gangapur dam and its surroundings. The district administration believes this show will significantly put Nashik on the tourist map.
Ensuring a Smooth Experience
Authorities are leaving no stone unturned for visitor safety and convenience. Comprehensive plans for traffic management, parking, crowd control, emergency services, and primary health facilities will be in place at the venue. The event will also be complemented by various cultural activities presented by local artists, making it a holistic experience.
Residents and visitors are in for a historic treat as nine Hawk Mk 132 fighter training aircraft of the SKAT team perform complex manoeuvres, marking a new chapter in Nashik's cultural and tourism calendar.
