Thousands of tourists and picnickers visited the Sukhaldari waterfall in Garhwa district on Wednesday. They came to celebrate the festival of Makar Sankranti. A large fair is organized at this location every year for the occasion.
Visitors from Multiple States
People traveled from various regions to see the waterfall. They came from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Many also arrived from other districts within Jharkhand. The crowd was substantial and lively.
Location and Natural Beauty
Sukhaldari waterfall sits about 60 kilometers from the district headquarters. It is located in the Dhurki block of Garhwa. High hills and dense forests surround the area. This creates a picturesque setting for visitors.
Vinay Kumar, a resident of Ambikapur district in Chhattisgarh, shared his thoughts. He said, "This is a beautiful picnic resort. It could be developed into a perfect tourist center. It surprises me why the district administration has ignored this important tourism spot until now."
Previous Development Efforts
Authorities previously proposed developing Sukhaldari as a tourist center. Some construction work began on the project. However, the initiative did not progress further. The reasons for the halt remain unclear.
Security Arrangements for the Event
The district administration implemented detailed security measures for the fair. They aimed to ensure the safety of all tourists and picnickers. Janardan Raut, the officer in charge of Dhurki police station, provided details.
He stated, "We deployed a sufficient police force at the fair and near the Sukhaldari waterfall. Their task was to manage the crowd effectively." The arrangements helped maintain order during the busy event.
The annual gathering continues to draw attention to Sukhaldari's potential. Many hope for future development to enhance the site for tourism.
