Vidarbha Sees Tourist Surge: MTDC Resorts Fully Booked for New Year
Vidarbha Tourism Booms with 100% MTDC Resort Occupancy

Ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra is experiencing a remarkable tourism boom. Tourist footfall has surged dramatically, with resorts operated by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) reporting 100% occupancy. Private hotels and resorts in the area are also witnessing robust demand, recording over 80% bookings.

Holiday Season and Family Travel Drive the Spike

The ongoing school vacations and the festive holiday season have been key contributors to this sharp increase in visitors. A significant portion of the travel is family-oriented, as people look to celebrate the year-end together. This trend indicates a strong desire for experiential holidays and getaways within the state.

To capitalize on this influx and enhance the visitor experience, MTDC has organized special New Year celebrations across its tourist resorts. The events are being coordinated under the supervision of MTDC's managing director, Nilesh Gatne. The festivities are designed to offer a vibrant mix of culture and entertainment, featuring decorative lighting, authentic Maharashtrian and Marathwada cuisine, and a packed schedule of entertainment programmes.

Festive Plans and Top Booked Destinations

The entertainment lineup for guests includes popular attractions such as DJ nights, live orchestra performances, magic shows, and various games. This curated experience is drawing large numbers of tourists to MTDC properties.

According to MTDC officials, some of the most sought-after destinations in this surge include:

  • Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
  • Pench National Park (Sillari range)
  • Navegaon-Nagzira
  • Navegaon Bandh
  • Bodalkasa
  • Chandrapur

Specific MTDC tourist residences at Tadoba, Navegaon Bandh, Bodalkasa, Sillari (Pench), Chandrapur, and Wardha are completely booked out. The high demand has even filled up all dormitory facilities, highlighting the diverse range of tourists visiting.

Sustained Demand Signals Tourism Revival

Despite achieving full occupancy, MTDC continues to receive a steady stream of enquiries from hopeful tourists. This sustained interest points to an unfulfilled demand and a very positive trend for the region's tourism sector.

Senior Regional Manager Dinesh Patil commented on the development, stating that this strong response reflects a clear revival of tourism activity following the Diwali vacation period. He added that the combination of year-end festivities and the current favourable weather conditions has given tourism-related businesses in Vidarbha a significant and welcome boost. The region is witnessing renewed momentum, setting an optimistic tone for the upcoming year.
