Ahmedabad experienced a scorching Monday as the maximum temperature soared to 40.4 degrees Celsius, surpassing the normal mark by 2.2 degrees. The mercury level remained consistent with Sunday's reading, continuing a trend of nearly two months of temperatures exceeding 40 degrees since April 1.

Temperature and Humidity Details

The minimum temperature settled at 29 degrees Celsius, which was 1.6 degrees higher than the usual. Relative humidity levels recorded at 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM stood at 59% and 33%, respectively, indicating a dry and hot day.

Weather Systems and Forecast

According to the synoptic situation, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over southeast Pakistan and adjoining southwest Rajasthan. Additionally, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India starting June 18. The current northern limit of the monsoon passes through Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra, among other places, with the southwest monsoon remaining stalled over the past few days.

The state forecast suggests no major change in maximum temperatures over the next seven days. However, some parts of South Gujarat may experience light to moderate rainfall later this week.

Hottest Cities in Gujarat

Bhavnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 40.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Ahmedabad at 40.4 degrees and VV Nagar at 40.3 degrees.
