10 New Boats Launch at Thatipudi Reservoir to Boost Vizianagaram Tourism
Vizianagaram's Thatipudi Reservoir Launches New Boating Services

In a significant push to enhance tourism infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Industries and Commerce, Kondapalli Srinivas, inaugurated a fleet of ten boats and two new tourism facilities at the scenic Thatipudi reservoir in Vizianagaram district. This initiative marks a key development under the district tourism department's boating programme, now entering its ambitious second phase.

Diverse Fleet Sets Sail

The newly launched services feature a diverse range of vessels to cater to different tourist preferences. The fleet includes a 19-seater water taxi for group excursions, a swift six-seater speed boat for thrill-seekers, and a 12-seater Gulf Bridge boat. For smaller groups and unique experiences, the reservoir will now offer a six-seater Orlando boat, four two-seater ocean kayaks, and two charming two-seater water rickshaws.

Government's Focus on Tourism-Led Growth

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, Minister Srinivas underscored the state government's strong emphasis on developing tourism as a vital economic engine. He highlighted the sector's potential for high returns on investment and significant job creation. "Tourism is a sector that generates significant income with relatively low investment while creating ample employment opportunities," the minister stated.

He elaborated that the introduction of boating at the picturesque reservoir serves a dual purpose: providing enjoyment and recreation for visitors from across the state and simultaneously boosting local employment prospects. The initiative is expected to attract more tourists to Vizianagaram, thereby stimulating the regional economy.

Community and Official Participation

The inauguration event saw participation from key stakeholders, reflecting broad-based support for the project. Attendees included the President of the Thatipudi Reservoir Irrigation Association, officials from the tourism department, representatives from the service provider WaterSports Simple India, and various local community leaders. Their presence signified a collaborative effort between the government, private enterprise, and the local community to successfully manage and promote the new tourism facilities.

With the commencement of this second phase of boating operations, the Thatipudi reservoir is poised to become a prominent hub for water-based recreation in Andhra Pradesh. The district tourism department will manage these activities, aiming to offer a safe and enjoyable experience that puts Vizianagaram firmly on the state's tourism map.
