Authorities in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district have imposed stringent restrictions in a three-kilometer belt along the India-Pakistan border until September 15. The move aims to bolster security and curb any potential cross-border infiltration or illegal activities in the sensitive region.
Details of the Restrictions
The district administration, citing security concerns, has prohibited the movement of individuals and vehicles in the designated border belt without proper authorization. Only residents with valid identity proofs and permits will be allowed to stay or travel within the zone. The restrictions will remain in effect from midnight of August 23 to September 15.
Additionally, all agricultural and construction activities in the area have been temporarily suspended. Authorities have also intensified patrolling and surveillance along the border to ensure compliance. The decision was taken after a review of the current security situation by senior officials.
Reason Behind the Move
Officials stated that the restrictions are part of a routine security drill to prevent any untoward incidents during the upcoming festivals and maintain peace in the border area. The region has witnessed heightened vigilance in recent years due to cross-border tensions. The administration has urged residents to cooperate and report any suspicious activity to the local police or border security forces.
Local residents have been informed about the restrictions through public announcements and community meetings. Essential services like medical emergencies and supply of goods will be allowed with special passes issued by the district magistrate's office.
