Expressing deep concern over a series of violent incidents, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Punjab has called upon the Indian government and global human rights bodies to intensify pressure on Bangladesh. The appeal highlights growing distress over the safety of the minority Hindu community in the neighboring country.
Leader's Stern Appeal for Diplomatic Action
Paramjit Singh Kainth, who serves as the vice-president of the Punjab BJP's scheduled caste morcha, issued a strong statement from Chandigarh on Tuesday. He voiced his anguish over the reported attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and urged the Centre in New Delhi, along with international human rights institutions, to maintain sustained diplomatic pressure and monitoring on the Bangladeshi government.
Kainth did not mince words in his criticism, alleging a systemic failure by authorities in Dhaka. "The Bangladesh government has repeatedly failed over the past one and a half months to stop the ongoing lynchings, murders, and targeted attacks against Hindus," he stated.
Questions Over Justice and Government Assurances
In his written communication, the BJP leader raised pointed questions about the lack of accountability and swift judicial process. He questioned why there has been no swift justice or clear deterrent action following the recent killings of Hindu citizens.
He further challenged the effectiveness of assurances given by Bangladesh's interim government, which is led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus. Despite repeated promises from this administration, Kainth emphasized that targeted violence against the Hindu minority continues unabated. This pattern, he argued, suggests a troubling trend far beyond random criminal activity.

Kainth concluded his statement with a grave assessment of the situation. He asserted that the nature and recurrence of these violent incidents "clearly pointed towards a pattern of targeted persecution rather than isolated criminal acts."
This framing elevates the issue from sporadic law-and-order problems to one of potential systematic discrimination, warranting urgent international attention and intervention. The call for action underscores the rising political and diplomatic concerns in India regarding the welfare of minority communities in the region.
