Helicopter Services Launch at Pantnagar Airport Under UDAN Scheme
In a significant development for regional connectivity, helicopter services were officially launched from Pantnagar Airport in Kumaon on Wednesday under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme. The inaugural flight to Naukuchiatal was ceremoniously flagged off by Rudrapur MLA Shiv Arora and District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, who performed a traditional coconut-breaking ritual to mark the occasion.

MLA Shiv Arora hailed the initiative as a "revolutionary step" that will transform transportation in the region. He emphasized that the service, launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, will dramatically improve connectivity to key destinations including Dehradun, Almora, Nainital, and Pantnagar. "Tourists can now reach these destinations within 30 to 45 minutes, which will give a substantial push to the local economy," Arora stated.

The helicopter service, operated by Pawan Hans Limited (PHL), is expected to provide significant benefits beyond tourism. Arora highlighted that it will particularly aid residents of remote hill areas, as well as those living near the Nepal border and adjoining regions of Uttar Pradesh. Airport Director Pawan Kumar provided updates on the ongoing expansion work at Pantnagar Airport.
