Hisar Airport Expansion: Flights to Ahmedabad, Jammu Set to Launch Soon

In a significant boost to regional air connectivity, flights from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to Ahmedabad and Jammu are likely to commence operations in the near future. The state government is actively pushing to fast-track pending clearances and accelerate critical infrastructure work to make this expansion a reality.

Review Meeting Highlights Operational Readiness

The development emerged during a comprehensive review meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (Civil Aviation) Dr. G. Anupama at the airport complex on Wednesday. During the session, officials provided detailed briefings on the airport's operational readiness and the various approvals currently in the pipeline.

Officials confirmed that the airport is technically capable of handling aircraft movements at intervals as short as five minutes. However, key permissions remain pending, most notably the approval for the CAT-II landing system, which is essential for safe operations during low-visibility conditions.

Expediting Clearances and Infrastructure Upgrades

Dr. Anupama directed the civil aviation department to coordinate closely with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to expedite these crucial clearances. Emphasizing strict adherence to timelines, she also instructed multiple agencies, including the public works, irrigation, and public health departments, to accelerate all pending construction activities at the airport.

The ACS noted that air traffic at Hisar Airport is projected to rise significantly with the upcoming rollout of the first phase of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster in the region. This anticipated growth underscores the urgency of enhancing airport infrastructure and connectivity.

Current Connectivity and Future Plans

Currently, Maharaja Agrasen Airport connects Hisar to several key destinations, including Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Ayodhya. The addition of Ahmedabad and Jammu routes represents a strategic expansion aimed at strengthening both business and leisure travel networks.

During the meeting, Dr. Anupama also directed officials to improve internal transport mechanisms within the airport complex to ensure better passenger connectivity and overall travel experience. Following the discussions, she conducted a thorough inspection of ongoing work at critical facilities, including the runway, terminal building, and air traffic control tower.

This proactive approach by state authorities signals a strong commitment to transforming Hisar into a more prominent aviation hub, fostering economic growth and improved accessibility for residents and businesses alike.
