India Condemns Pakistan's Genocidal Record at UN Security Council
India Calls Out Pakistan's Genocidal Acts at UNSC

India launched a scathing attack on Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling out its “long and tainted record of genocidal acts.” The Indian representative highlighted Pakistan’s history of state-sponsored terrorism and human rights abuses, including the 1971 genocide in Bangladesh and ongoing atrocities in Kashmir.

India’s Strong Statement at UNSC

Speaking at the UNSC open debate on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter,” India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, said that Pakistan’s record of genocide is well-documented. She cited the 1971 Bangladesh genocide, where Pakistani forces killed an estimated 3 million people, and the systematic persecution of minorities in Pakistan.

Focus on Kashmir

Kamboj also referred to Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Islamabad continues to use non-state actors to perpetuate violence in the region. She urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its actions and to ensure that it adheres to its UN Charter obligations.

Call for Accountability

India’s statement came amid growing concerns over Pakistan’s support for terrorist groups and its failure to curb extremism. The Indian envoy emphasized that countries that harbor and sponsor terrorists must be held responsible. She also called for a comprehensive approach to counter terrorism, including addressing root causes such as radicalization and hate speech.

Pakistan’s Response

Pakistan’s representative rejected India’s allegations, calling them baseless and a diversion from India’s own human rights record in Kashmir. However, India’s robust rebuttal highlighted the hypocrisy of Pakistan’s stance, given its history of supporting terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

International Support

Several UN member states expressed solidarity with India’s position, acknowledging the threat posed by cross-border terrorism. The debate underscored the need for collective action against states that violate international law and commit genocide.

India’s unequivocal condemnation at the UNSC marks a significant diplomatic move to isolate Pakistan on the global stage and reaffirm its commitment to peace and security in the region.
