India Formally Acknowledges Bangladesh's Extradition Request
India has officially confirmed receiving a formal extradition request from Bangladesh concerning former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on Wednesday that New Delhi has received the request and is currently examining it through proper legal channels.
The Indian government emphasized that the matter is being treated as part of ongoing judicial and internal legal processes, indicating a methodical approach to the sensitive diplomatic situation. This confirmation comes after Bangladesh had initially made its request in December 2024, followed by another earlier this month.

He further elaborated on India's broader commitment to Bangladesh's welfare, noting that New Delhi remains "committed to the best interest of the people of Bangladesh, including peace, democracy, inclusion and stability in that country."
