In a significant development for Indian Muslims, Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju has successfully negotiated and signed the bilateral Haj Agreement with Saudi Arabia, finalizing India's pilgrimage quota at 175,025 pilgrims for the 2026 Haj season.

Historic Agreement Signed in Jeddah

The landmark agreement was formalized during Rijiju's official visit to Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 9, where he held crucial bilateral discussions with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabiah. The signing ceremony took place in Jeddah on Sunday, marking an important milestone in India-Saudi relations.

During their comprehensive meeting, both ministers conducted a thorough review of ongoing Haj preparations and explored various measures to enhance coordination and logistical support between the two nations. The discussions emphasized creating a more streamlined and efficient pilgrimage process for Indian devotees traveling to Mecca.

Enhanced Pilgrim Experience Promised

The bilateral talks focused extensively on improving the overall quality of the Haj experience for Indian pilgrims. Key areas of discussion included upgrading facilities, transportation systems, accommodation standards, and healthcare services available to visitors from India.
