This statement was a direct response to a viral social media post that alleged Iranian police had detained a group consisting of 10 Afghan nationals, six Indian nationals, and their Iranian accomplices. Ambassador Fathali's intervention aims to cut through the misinformation spreading online.
Medical Bodies Confirm Safety of Indian Students
Amid the anxiety, major Indian medical associations have stepped forward to provide reassurance. The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) and the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) issued a joint statement confirming the safety of Indian medical students in Iran.
Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of both AIMSA and the FAIMA Doctors Association, stated on Sunday that the organizations have received direct updates from students across Iran. "All our students are safe. There is no need to panic," Dr. Khan was quoted as saying by ANI. He added that many students personally contacted the associations to relay messages of safety to their families back home.
The associations further reassured that senior officials and the Indian Embassy are closely monitoring the evolving situation.
