Noida Administration Launches Daily Camps to Expedite Airport Land Compensation
In a significant move to accelerate compensation disbursement, the Noida district administration has announced the establishment of daily camps across 14 villages in Jewar, starting from Friday. This initiative aims to streamline payments to farmers affected by land acquisition for the expansion of the Noida International Airport.
Scope and Coverage of the Compensation Exercise
The exercise encompasses a vast area of 1,838 hectares acquired under phases 3 and 4 of the airport project. The villages included in this effort are:
- Thora
- Neemka Shahjahanpur
- Khwajpur
- Ramner
- Kishorepur
- Banwaribas
- Parohi
- Muqimpur Shivara
- Jewar Bangar
- Sabauta Mustafabad
- Ahmedpur Chaurauli
- Dayanatpur
- Bankapur
- Rohi
Camps will be conducted at designated locations such as primary schools, panchayat bhawans, and community centers in these villages until all affected farmers are covered. According to officials, approximately 16,000 farmer families will be displaced due to this acquisition, with compensation set at Rs 4,300 per square meter, including interest.
Streamlining the Compensation Process
District Magistrate Medha Roopam emphasized that the camps are designed to simplify paperwork and ensure quicker payouts. "Compensation distribution for acquired land will be carried out with complete transparency and speed through these camps," she stated. At each camp, revenue teams will collect necessary documents from farmers, prepare compensation files, and complete formalities on the spot. To facilitate this, a revenue inspector, lekhpal (village accountant), and amin (village surveyor) have been deployed in every village.
Jewar SDM Durgesh Singh, appointed as the nodal officer for this exercise, will visit the camps daily along with the concerned naib tehsildar. He will verify and sign compensation files before forwarding them to the additional district magistrate (land acquisition) office for final processing. Singh highlighted the efficiency of this approach, noting that "the camps will help streamline the process, which otherwise would have taken 5-7 days through the usual channel." Previously, farmers had to navigate a multi-step procedure involving multiple officials, but now all steps will be completed in a single day.
Progress on Previous Phases and Resettlement
Officials reported that compensation disbursal for Phase 2 of the airport expansion has already been completed. However, compensation for farmers affected by the acquisition of 189 hectares from seven villages for resettlement purposes is currently underway. These villages include Jewar Bangar, Sadullapur (Modelpur), Falaida Bangar, Karauli Bangar, Tirthali, Dhanpura, and Mehandipur Bangar, impacting 1,080 families who are also being compensated at Rs 4,300 per square meter.
District Magistrate Roopam explained, "The compensation amount disbursal of the seven villages which will be acquired to set up the resettlement and rehabilitation colony is underway and once it is complete, the land will be acquired and the YEIDA authority will start developing it."
Future Expansion Plans for Noida International Airport
The Phase 2 expansion of the airport will introduce a second runway and a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, along with a parallel taxiway and expanded aircraft parking with 27 additional bays. A new 90,000 square meter terminal building will be constructed to handle an extra 2,750 passengers at peak capacity.
Under phases 3 and 4, the Noida International Airport is set to transform into a comprehensive aviation and industrial hub. This expansion will integrate passenger growth with cargo and aerospace manufacturing development. The blueprint features dedicated cargo complexes, aerospace clusters, and allocation of 300 hectares for global aerospace players.
Infrastructure enhancements will include apron expansion with numerous additional aircraft bays and large terminal expansions of about 160,000 square meters each, adding peak handling capacity for 3,500 and 3,000 passengers respectively. Cargo infrastructure will be strengthened with expansions of up to 30,000 square meters and 50,000 square meters. Operational efficiency will be boosted through rapid exit taxi tracks for runways and supporting electrical and mechanical systems like substations. Collectively, these phases will elevate the airport from a passenger facility to a major logistics and aerospace hub.
The district administration has urged all affected farmers to attend the camps in their respective villages to complete documentation promptly and avoid delays in receiving compensation.
