Pakistan Army Chief Claims 'Divine Help' in May Clash with India After Op Sindoor
Pakistan Army Chief Claims 'Divine Help' in India Clash

Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has made a striking claim that his country received "divine intervention" during a fierce four-day military confrontation with India in May of this year. The clashes were a direct response to India's retaliatory Operation Sindoor.

The Claim of Divine Assistance

Speaking at the National Ulema Conference in Islamabad, Asim Munir stated in Urdu that the forces could feel Allah's intervention during the conflict. "We could feel Allah's intervention… It had happened," Munir said in a video from the event that has recently gone viral. This assertion places a religious interpretation on a military engagement that followed a major terrorist incident in Jammu and Kashmir.

Operation Sindoor: The Trigger for Conflict

The intense exchange of fire between the two nuclear-armed neighbors was triggered by India's decisive military action, Operation Sindoor. Launched on May 7, this operation was a direct retaliation for the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. That attack, which targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the death of 26 people, most of whom were visitors.

In response, Indian armed forces executed precision strikes targeting terrorist camps and launchpads located within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The military engagements that followed were sustained and severe, lasting for four consecutive days across the disputed frontier.

Ceasefire and De-escalation

The cycle of violence finally concluded on May 10. The de-escalation was initiated after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) established contact with his Indian counterpart. This high-level military communication led to the arrangement of a ceasefire, bringing a temporary halt to the hostilities that had raised regional tensions significantly.

Munir's recent comments, invoking divine support for Pakistan's military, add a new dimension to the narrative surrounding the clash. They emerge amidst a backdrop of ongoing diplomatic friction and provide insight into the Pakistani military's public portrayal of the event. The Indian government has consistently maintained that Operation Sindoor was a necessary and measured response to cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistani soil.
