Patna RPO Hosts Mobile Passport Camp at Nalanda University, Aiding 55 Beneficiaries
In a significant move to enhance citizen services, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Patna conducted a one-day mobile passport seva camp at Nalanda University in Rajgir on Saturday. This event was part of the Ministry of External Affairs' (MEA) ongoing "Passport Seva—Passport at Your Doorstep" initiative, designed to bring essential passport services directly to communities.
Inauguration by Senior Officials
The camp was formally inaugurated by Sibi George, an Indian Foreign Service officer serving as Secretary (West) at the MEA, alongside Sachin Chaturvedi, the Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between government bodies and educational institutions to streamline administrative processes for citizens.
Objective and Benefits for the Academic Community
The primary goal of this mobile camp was to provide convenient access to passport-related services for students, faculty members, officials, and the broader academic fraternity associated with Nalanda University. By setting up the camp on campus, the initiative aimed to simplify the application process, reduce travel burdens, and save time for beneficiaries. According to an official statement from the RPO Patna, the camp successfully benefited 55 individuals, who availed of various passport services during the event.
Expanding Reach Across Bihar
This camp is part of a larger effort by the RPO Patna to extend passport services across Bihar. An official highlighted that, over the past two years, the RPO has organized 17 passport seva mobile van camps in several districts of the state. Collectively, these camps have processed more than 2,200 applications, demonstrating a robust commitment to making passport services more accessible and efficient for residents.
The "Passport at Your Doorstep" initiative continues to gain momentum, reflecting the MEA's focus on citizen-centric governance and digital empowerment in regions like Bihar.
