PM Modi, Trump to hold bilateral meeting at G7 Summit

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump will hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, according to a senior US administration official. This will mark their first face-to-face interaction since PM Modi visited Washington shortly after Trump's inauguration in February 2025.

The official said Trump plans to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders attending the summit, including those of France, Egypt, and India.

The expected meeting comes at a significant juncture in India-US ties, with both sides engaged in negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement and seeking to deepen cooperation across strategic, economic, and technological sectors.

The two leaders are in France to attend the G7 summit on June 16-17.

If the talks take place as scheduled, PM Modi and Trump are likely to review progress in bilateral relations over the past year and discuss ways to expedite the conclusion of the proposed trade pact, which has emerged as a key priority for both governments.
