Punjab MP Kang Seeks Action on Drug Trafficking via Gujarat

Mohali: MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to curb drug trafficking into Punjab through routes originating from Gujarat, saying that the menace posed a serious threat to youth in the state.

Kang Highlights Changing Smuggling Routes

Addressing media persons during inauguration of development projects in Kharar constituency on Monday, Kang said recent drug seizures by Punjab Police suggest that international narcotics syndicates have altered their smuggling routes into Punjab. He called upon the Union government to strengthen surveillance and enforcement mechanisms to prevent the inflow of drugs.

Political Criticism and Governance Focus

Kang also criticised the BJP, saying that it lacked grassroots connect in Punjab. He said people supported the Aam Aadmi Party government led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann due to its focus on transparency, governance and public welfare.
