Rajkot Airport Among 57 Airports Nationwide to Receive New Passenger Amenities

In a significant boost to aviation infrastructure, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated new passenger amenities at Rajkot International Airport and 56 other airports across India on Sunday. While the minister was physically present at Rajkot for the inauguration, facilities at the other airports were launched virtually, marking a coordinated nationwide effort to enhance the travel experience.

Growth in India's Aviation Sector

Under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, there are plans to further expand this number to 350 airports. The minister emphasized that air travel is no longer limited to the affluent, with rising passenger numbers reflecting broader accessibility and inclusivity in the sector. This growth is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity, support economic development, and make air travel more affordable for all citizens.

The inauguration of these amenities at Rajkot and other airports underscores the government's commitment to improving aviation infrastructure and passenger services across India. With the upcoming international flights and cargo terminal, Rajkot is poised to play a pivotal role in regional trade and tourism, contributing to the overall growth of the aviation industry.
