Sanjha Shakti: Army, Force One Conduct Joint MCF Exercise in Pune

A major joint Military Civil Fusion (MCF) exercise, named 'Sanjha Shakti', was successfully conducted at the Dighi Range, Khadki Military Station in Pune on January 8 and 9. The exercise was held under the aegis of the Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa Area of the Southern Command.

Focus on Coordination and Realistic Scenarios

The primary objective of the drill was to address complex security challenges and emergency situations through seamless coordination. According to a press statement from the Defence PRO in Pune, the exercise highlighted joint preparedness among civil and military agencies. Realistic situations were simulated to rigorously test standard operating procedures, communication networks, and decision-making processes at various operational levels.

Wide-Ranging Participation from Key Agencies

The exercise witnessed robust involvement from a diverse set of stakeholders. More than 350 personnel from 16 civilian agencies participated alongside the Indian Army. Key participants included the Maharashtra Police, its elite counter-terrorism unit Force One, and various Fire Fighting Departments. This collective effort was aimed at enhancing interoperability, enabling rapid response, and ensuring coordinated action in evolving security and disaster scenarios.

Leadership Emphasizes Synergy for National Security

Lieutenant General DS Kushwah, the General Officer Commanding of the MG & G Area, addressed the gathering. He underscored the Indian Army's proven role in operations like flood relief and rear area security. Lt Gen Kushwah stressed that strong synergy between the army and all state organs is crucial for safeguarding the hinterland, providing effective humanitarian assistance during natural calamities, and ensuring holistic support for veterans and Veer Naris.

The press release noted that all participating agencies reaffirmed their commitment to public safety, swift crisis management, and civil-military synergy. Such joint exercises are deemed vital for refining operational synergy and preparedness to effectively counter emerging security threats and manage large-scale emergencies.
