Army Training Command in Shimla Hosts 78th Army Day Celebration

The Army Training Command, known as ARTRAC, in Shimla marked the 78th Army Day on Saturday. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla served as the chief guest for this significant event.

Civil and military dignitaries attended the function. They gathered to honor the Indian Army's long-standing service to the nation.

Governor Praises Army's Commitment and Sacrifices

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla addressed officers and personnel during the ceremony. He commended the Indian Army for its supreme sacrifices and unmatched courage.

The Governor emphasized that the Army safeguards India's sovereignty, unity, and integrity with unwavering resolve. He stated that Army Day is more than just a ceremonial occasion.

It serves as a powerful reminder of the Army's steadfast commitment to national security. Shukla highlighted the evolving nature of modern warfare.

He pointed out that conflicts now extend into cyber and information domains. This makes the role of ARTRAC increasingly critical in today's security landscape.

ARTRAC's Role in Strengthening Defence Capabilities

The Governor noted that ARTRAC provides essential leadership and training. This training not only strengthens operational capabilities but also instills ethical and human values in soldiers.

He stressed the importance of such values in maintaining the Army's high standards. The event underscored ARTRAC's pivotal position in preparing the armed forces for future challenges.

Defence Budget and Strategic Initiatives Discussed

Governor Shukla discussed the Union Budget for 2025–26 during his address. He mentioned the allocation of Rs 6.81 lakh crore for defence, reflecting a nearly 9.5 per cent increase.

This allocation underscores India's long-term strategic vision, according to the Governor. He also highlighted increased budgetary support for the Agniveer Scheme.

Progress in defence indigenisation received attention as well. Welfare measures for ex-servicemen were another key point in his speech.

These measures include revisions to the One Rank One Pension scheme and expanded coverage under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.

Military Leaders Extend Welcome and Thanks

Lieutenant General Devender Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC, welcomed Governor Shukla to the event. He highlighted the Army's current state of preparedness during his remarks.

Lieutenant General S S Dahiya, the Chief of Staff, presented the vote of thanks. Several ministers, Members of Parliament, and senior civil and military officers were present at the celebration.
