Trichy MP Durai Vaiko Meets CM Vijay, Discusses Airport and Dry Port Projects
Trichy MP Durai Vaiko Meets CM Vijay on Airport, Dry Port

Trichy: MDMK principal secretary and Trichy MP Durai Vaiko on Saturday clarified that his meeting with Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay was solely to address constituency issues, not political matters. He discussed projects and public demands concerning the Trichy parliamentary constituency, including expediting the Trichy airport runway expansion project, establishing a dry port in Trichy, and advocating for Trichy to become the state's second capital.

Reaction to Annamalai's Exit

Responding to a query about former BJP state president K Annamalai quitting the party and launching a new movement, Durai Vaiko welcomed it as healthy political competition. He appreciated Annamalai's stated intention to create a secular platform transcending caste and religion, serving as a voice for Tamils. The MP noted that if Annamalai pursues development-oriented politics, it would benefit the state and democracy.

Election Symbol Issue

Durai Vaiko explained that his party was compelled to contest under the 'rising sun' symbol in all four constituencies during the election, as they were denied the opportunity to use their own 'matchbox' symbol. He refrained from blaming former Chief Minister Stalin, attributing the decision to other power centers.
