White House Considers Iran's Parliament Speaker as Potential Partner and Future Leader
In a significant development in US-Iran relations, the White House is reportedly evaluating Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, as a potential partner and even a future leader for Iran. The report highlights that the Trump administration is exploring multiple options in its approach to Iran, with Ghalibaf emerging as a key figure of interest. At 64 years old, Ghalibaf has been vocal in criticizing the US and its allies, often advocating for strong retaliation. However, some White House officials see him as a leader who could potentially negotiate with the US in the next phase of ongoing conflicts.
An administration official described Ghalibaf as a "hot option", emphasizing that no final decisions have been made. "He's one of the highest...But we got to test them, and we can't rush into it," the official stated, underscoring the cautious and exploratory nature of these considerations.
Ghalibaf's Stance on Global Issues
Meanwhile, Speaker Ghalibaf has made strong statements on international matters, particularly regarding the Gaza conflict. In a post on social media platform X, he asserted that Iran is fighting for humanity and that the world is divided between those supporting Gaza and what he termed the "Epstein class". He declared, "Iran is fighting for humanity. The world is either with Gaza and against this colonial terror regime, or it stands with the Epstein class and child torturers. There is no middle ground."
Additionally, Ghalibaf has rejected claims by President Trump about ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington, stating that no such talks have occurred. He suggested that Trump's remarks were aimed at manipulating financial and oil markets, which have been disrupted amid the conflict.
International Community's Role
In related developments, Iran's Consul General in Mumbai, Saeid Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, called on the international community to engage in dialogue with parties that initiate wars and compel them to cease such actions. He emphasized that this issue extends beyond Iran, referencing historical instances of destruction by powerful nations. "We therefore call on all countries, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law, to hold them accountable, compel them to respond, and ensure that they do not carry out such unilateral actions against any country again," he stated.
