Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to undertake a state visit to the United States in the autumn, following an invitation extended by US President Donald Trump. This announcement was made by China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, during a briefing on Friday regarding the recent meeting between Xi and Trump in Beijing.
Wang Yi's Remarks
Wang Yi called on both nations to collaborate closely in preparing for future interactions and exchanges between the two leaders. He emphasized the importance of fostering a favorable atmosphere and achieving more constructive outcomes through these high-level engagements.
Trump's Visit to China
President Trump concluded a two-day visit to China on Thursday, which included talks with President Xi and participation in a series of official events in Beijing. During his visit, Trump revealed that he had invited Xi to make a reciprocal visit to the White House on September 24. The White House characterized the meeting between the two leaders as "good," noting that discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation.
The upcoming state visit underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the world's two largest economies. Both sides are expected to work diligently to ensure the visit strengthens bilateral ties and addresses key issues of mutual interest.
