Amit Shah's Strong Stance Against Infiltrators in Bihar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the Congress and RJD during his election rallies in Bihar on Saturday, accusing them of providing shelter to infiltrators. Addressing large gatherings in Purnia, Katihar, and Supaul on the penultimate day of campaigning for the second phase of assembly polls scheduled for November 11, Shah made bold promises about national security and regional development.
Security Concerns and Political Accusations
Shah specifically targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he wants to turn the Seemanchal region into a stronghold of infiltrators. The Home Minister vowed that the NDA government would not only expel all illegal immigrants from the country but also demolish their encroachments completely. He emphasized that while the opposition parties view the issue of 'ghuspaithiyas' (infiltrators) as mere vote bank politics, for the NDA it represents a critical matter of national security.
The senior BJP leader urged voters to carefully consider their choice, warning that a wrong decision could lead to the return of lawlessness in the state. He appealed to citizens to protect local employment opportunities and resources by voting wisely in the upcoming elections.
Development Promises for Bihar's Growth
Shah outlined an extensive development agenda for the region, promising substantial economic improvements. He announced plans to establish 25 new sugar mills across Bihar, with one specifically planned for Banmankhi in Purnia district. The Home Minister also revealed a comprehensive package of incentives designed for the Kosi region, which includes financial assistance of Rs 9,000 for farmers and fishermen.
Other significant promises included establishing milk chilling and processing centers at the block level and implementing the 'Panchamrit Guarantee' scheme. This scheme guarantees 125 free units of electricity, ration supplies, medical treatment, housing facilities, and security for all eligible beneficiaries.
Addressing the persistent flood problems in Supaul and the Kosi area, Shah confirmed that the Central government has approved the Kosi-Mechi river-linking project. This ambitious initiative aims to tackle the recurring inundation issues that plague both Seemanchal and Kosi regions, providing long-term solutions to flood management.
Contrasting Governance Records
The Union Minister drew sharp comparisons between the NDA's development-oriented governance and what he described as the previous administration's failures. Shah accused Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi of establishing what he called 'industries of kidnapping, robbery, ransom, loot and murder' during their tenure, while praising the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for bringing genuine development to Bihar.
He posed a rhetorical question to voters: "Do you want the irrigation and education departments or the ransom ministries?" emphasizing the need to protect Bihar from returning to what he termed 'jungle raj.' Shah also highlighted corruption cases against RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, while asserting that neither PM Modi nor CM Nitish Kumar faces any corruption allegations.
On local development initiatives, Shah promised to establish a medical college in every district of Seemanchal and announced plans for an ITI and sports complex in Purnia. He reminded the audience about the direct benefit transfer of Rs 10,000 into Jeevika didis' accounts, confidently stating that opposition parties would never be able to reverse these welfare measures.
Concluding his address, Shah praised the armed forces and made a reference to Operation Sindoor, noting that under the Modi government, security threats are neutralized even across the border when necessary.
