Bihar Election 2025: AIMIM Leads in 6 Seats, Outperforms Congress
Bihar Polls: AIMIM Leads in 6, Congress Trails in 3

In a dramatic turn of events during the Bihar Assembly election results 2025, Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has emerged as a surprising performer, leading in six constituencies according to early counting trends on Friday. This performance has notably surpassed the Indian National Congress, which is struggling with leads in just three seats despite contesting more than double the number of constituencies.

AIMIM's Strong Performance in Seemanchal

The Hyderabad-based party has concentrated its efforts primarily in the Seemanchal region, known for its significant Muslim population. Out of the 29 seats where AIMIM fielded candidates, an impressive 24 were from this specific area. The strategic focus appears to be paying rich dividends as the party establishes strong leads across multiple constituencies.

AIMIM is currently leading in Jokihat, Bahadurganj, Thakurganj, Kochadhaman, Amour and Baisi seats of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The margin details reveal substantial advantages for several candidates after multiple rounds of counting.

In Kochadhaman, Md Sarawar Alam was leading by 22,192 votes after the 21st round of counting, while Akhtarul Iman maintained a commanding lead in Amour by 35,163 votes after 23 rounds. Ghulam Sarwar was ahead in Baisi by 5,508 votes after 13 rounds, and Mohammad Murshid Alam led in Jokihat by 22,707 votes after 20 rounds.

The party's Thakurganj candidate Ghulam Hasnain was leading by 8,428 votes after 21 rounds, while Tauseef Alam maintained a 4,589-vote advantage in Bahadurganj after 14 rounds of counting.

Congress's Disappointing Performance

In a shocking development, the Congress party, which campaigned extensively as part of the INDIA bloc, finds itself trailing significantly. The grand old party has managed to secure leads in only three out of the 61 seats it contested, raising serious questions about its electoral strategy in Bihar.

The contrast becomes even more striking when considering the resources and national presence of Congress compared to AIMIM, which primarily operates in Telangana and Bihar. Congress candidates showing some promise include Abidur Rahman from Araria, leading by 1,630 votes after 14 rounds, Md. Qamrul Hoda from Kishanganj with a 23,141-vote lead after 18 rounds, and Amita Bhushan from Begusarai ahead by a narrow margin of 374 votes.

Historical Context and Political Implications

This performance marks a significant moment for AIMIM in Bihar politics, especially considering the party's history in the state. During the 2020 Bihar elections, AIMIM had won five seats, but four of its MLAs subsequently defected to join Congress. The current trends suggest the party has not only recovered but potentially strengthened its position.

Meanwhile, the broader electoral picture shows the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leading in over 200 seats, positioning the coalition for a comfortable victory in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. The final results are expected to be declared later on Friday, potentially reshaping the political landscape of the state and sending significant signals about minority voting patterns in the region.
