Chhattisgarh Voter Roll Revision: BJP Leads Claims, 6.4 Lakh Unmapped Voters
Chhattisgarh Voter Roll Revision: BJP Submits Most Claims

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh is witnessing active participation during its crucial claims and objections phase. The process, which is vital for updating the state's voter database, began after the draft electoral roll was published on December 23, 2025.

Political Parties' Participation in the Revision Process

Data from the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office reveals a distinct trend in submissions by political parties. Among national parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has submitted the highest number of claims for inclusion, with 93 requests filed through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

In contrast, other major national parties including the Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), CPI(M), and the National People's Party have filed no claims or objections so far. The state party, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J), also submitted no claims for inclusion during this period.

Process, Deadlines, and Key Statistics

The window for filing claims and objections is strictly defined, running from December 23, 2025, to January 22, 2026. This process is based on a draft electoral roll that currently comprises 1,84,95,920 electors.

The CEO's office has clarified the formal procedure. BLAs appointed by political parties are authorized to collect Form 6 (for inclusion claims) and Form 7 (for objections) from the public and submit them with necessary declarations. The office has stressed that generic complaints without the prescribed forms are not considered valid.

Significant pre-revision data highlights the scale of the task. Prior to the draft's publication, authorities had already received 27.4 lakh Form 7 applications for deletion of names, which include uncollectable entries. Additionally, 55,017 Form 6 applications seeking name additions were submitted. A notable challenge is the presence of 6,40,145 unmapped voters in the state's records.

Verification and the Path to the Final Roll

The CEO's office has reiterated that the ultimate goal of this intensive revision exercise is to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral roll. They have made it clear that any name added to the final list will only be done after due verification of all submitted claims.

This meticulous process underscores the Election Commission's commitment to creating a clean and reliable voter list, which is the foundation for a fair electoral process in the state.
