Congress Files Formal Complaint Over Alleged Voter Deletion Fraud in Goa
In a significant development ahead of upcoming elections, the Congress party has leveled serious allegations against BJP booth level agents in Goa. The party accuses these agents of filing hundreds of fraudulent voter deletion forms, directly violating Election Commission guidelines and potentially disenfranchising numerous citizens.
Formal Complaint Filed with Chief Electoral Officer
State Congress president Amit Patkar took decisive action by filing a formal complaint with the chief electoral officer. Patkar presented specific evidence showing systematic violations of election rules by BJP agents operating in the state.
According to the complaint, BJP booth level agents exceeded the prescribed daily limit of 10 deletion applications during the Summary Revision of electoral rolls. The Congress party documented multiple instances where agents filed deletion forms far beyond this legal threshold.
Specific Cases of Alleged Violations
The complaint highlights particularly egregious cases that demonstrate the scale of the alleged fraud. One BJP agent reportedly filed 78 deletion applications on January 15 alone, which represents eight times the daily limit permitted by election authorities.
Congress officials identified five specific BJP booth level agents who each filed over 40 deletion applications on the same day. In what appears to be an attempt to cover up these violations, one of these agents withdrew 48 deletion applications the very next day after filing them.
Transparency Exposes Systematic Abuse
Patkar explained that these violations only came to light because data from the Navelim constituency was uploaded online for public scrutiny. This transparency measure revealed what Congress describes as systematic abuse of the electoral process.
The State Congress president has demanded immediate publication of similar data from all constituencies across Goa. He emphasized that transparency has already exposed coordinated attempts to manipulate electoral rolls and suppress voter participation.
Congress Calls for Strict Action
"These figures are impossible under any lawful, ethical, or procedural interpretation," Patkar stated firmly. "This strongly points towards a coordinated attempt to manipulate electoral rolls and suppress the voice of Goans."
The Congress party has called for strict action against all officials who may have approved questionable deletion applications. They insist that election authorities must investigate these allegations thoroughly and take appropriate measures to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
The complaint raises serious questions about election integrity in Goa and highlights the importance of transparent electoral processes. As election season approaches, these allegations could have significant implications for voter confidence and political dynamics in the state.
