Delhi Police Busts Job Fraud Gang Promising Foreign Jobs

The Delhi Police has successfully dismantled a criminal gang that was involved in defrauding individuals by promising lucrative employment opportunities overseas. Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the case.

Details of the Arrested Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sallauddin Mansuri (38), Mohammad Shahzad (34), and Kaushar (32). According to DCP (Crime) Pankaj Kumar, the trio was taken into custody near Netaji Subhash Place in Pitampura.

Modus Operandi of the Fraudulent Operation

Investigations have revealed that the primary accused, Mansuri, impersonated an HR manager of a non-existent company that operated out of a temporary office in Kolkata. The gang posted fake advertisements on social media platforms, advertising high-salary positions and directing job seekers to their fabricated pages. They would collect passports from victims via courier or at their office, scan them, and then use the copies to create forged visas and supporting documents. To further deceive victims, they shared fake verification links.

The fraudsters frequently changed their locations and operated under various company names in cities such as Kolkata, Gorakhpur, Noida, and Patna to avoid detection. They forged visas for countries including Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan by adding counterfeit visa stamps to scanned passport copies and sending fabricated documents along with tentatively booked or cancelled air tickets. To build trust, they created fake online verification links. Victims paid money, believing the offers were genuine. The fraud was exposed when victims discovered no visa stamps on their physical passports and learned that their tickets had been cancelled due to non-payment, after the accused had already collected substantial sums.

Background of the Accused

Mansuri, a Class XII dropout from Siwan, Bihar, used the alias ‘Haider Khan’ and acted as the HR contact. Kaushar, a mechanic from Kushinagar, recruited victims using fake SIM cards, while Shahzad brought in clients and was linked to the mastermind, Mohammad Munna.

Items Recovered

The police recovered five Indian passports, seven mobile phones, cash, multiple identity and debit cards, and an Aadhaar card in the alias ‘Haider Khan.’
