DMK Claims Victory as Voter Enrollment Deadline Extended to Dec 11
DMK Wins Voter Registration Deadline Extension

DMK's Persistent Campaign Yields Results

The DMK party has successfully secured an extension for the submission of enrollment forms under the Special Intensive Revision program, with the new deadline now set for December 11. This development comes after sustained pressure from the ruling party, which argued that technical difficulties and recent cyclone conditions had hampered the digitization process.

DMK MP N R Elango declared the postponement a significant achievement for his party. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Elango emphasized that the Election Commission of India had acknowledged the validity of DMK's concerns. "We have been consistently highlighting the delays in digitization caused by technical glitches and the cyclone impact," he stated. "The ECI has considered our demands and responded positively by postponing the deadline."

Revised Electoral Calendar Announced

The Election Commission of India made its official announcement on Sunday, outlining a comprehensive revised schedule for the electoral process. According to the new timeline, the draft electoral roll will be published on December 16, providing the first complete look at the updated voter lists.

Voters who find their names missing from the initial draft will have until January 15 to file claims for inclusion. The entire process will culminate with the final publication of electoral rolls on February 14, ensuring all eligible voters can participate in upcoming elections.

This revised schedule applies uniformly across all 12 states and union territories where the Special Intensive Revision program is currently being implemented. The widespread applicability demonstrates the ECI's commitment to maintaining consistency in the electoral preparation process nationwide.

Tamil Nadu's Progress and Parliamentary Action

In Tamil Nadu specifically, the digitization process has shown substantial progress despite the challenges mentioned. Current data reveals that 87.64% of enrollment forms have already been digitized, indicating significant work completed while acknowledging the need for additional time to process remaining applications.

The DMK is not resting on its laurels following the deadline extension. Party MPs T R Baalu and Tiruchi Siva confirmed in Delhi that the DMK plans to raise the Special Intensive Revision issue during the current Parliament session. This indicates the party's continued focus on electoral integrity and voter accessibility as paramount concerns.

The Parliament session commences at a crucial time, providing DMK representatives with a platform to address what they perceive as systemic issues in the voter enrollment process. Their planned intervention suggests this victory represents just one battle in a larger campaign to ensure comprehensive voter participation.
